Allelopathic Effects of Foliar Epichloë Endophytes on Belowground Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi: A Meta-Analysis

چکیده
Many grasses are simultaneously symbiotic with Epichloë fungal endophytes and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF). a group of filamentous that colonize grow within aerial plant tissues, such as leaves stems. Infection hyphal growth confer fitness advantages to the host plants. In addition producing alkaloids altering metabolic/genetic profiles, it is proven symbiosis plants root/foliar affects plant–soil relationship. We propose presence/infection results in variations soil root AMF through allelopathic effects. performed meta-analysis integrated effects on grass–AMF development. pre-symbiotic phase symbiosis, exudation from Epichloë-infected positively affected growth, whereas shoot exudates inhibited growth. infection was found reduce colonization No pattern response presence found. This study should improve our understanding impact belowground microbial symbionts same plant. Grass–Epichloë–AMF may become an important model for studying above–belowground interactions.

Effects of mycorrhizal fungi on insect herbivores: a meta-analysis.
Mycorrhizal status of the host plant is often ignored in studies on plant-herbivore interactions, but mycorrhizal colonization is known to induce many morphological, physiological, and biochemical changes in host plants, which in turn may alter plant quality as a host for insect herbivores. Both positive and negative effects of mycorrhizal colonization of the host plant on performance and densi...
متن کاملEffects of Organic Farming on Communities of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi
Red pepper (Capsicum annum L.) roots and soils representing different agricultural management practices such as conventional (CON), no-chemical (NOC), and organic farming systems (ORG) were collected from 32 farm field sites in Kyunggi, Korea to investigate the effects of these agricultural practices on arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) symbiosis. ORG inoculum significantly increased plant growth com...
متن کاملEffects of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi on Growth and Nutrient Uptake of Apple Rootstocks in Calcareous Soil
The effects of three Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF) species (Glomus versiforme, Claroideoglomus etunicatum and Rhizophagus intraradices) were studied on the growth parameters and nutrient uptake of three apple rootstocks (M.9, M.7 and MM.106). The soil medium contained a high level of calcium carbonate (38.65%). The results showed that AMF inoculation could increase almost all growth parame...
متن کاملBalancing multiple mutualists: asymmetric interactions among plants, arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, and fungal endophytes
Most organisms engage in beneficial interactions with other species; however, little is known regarding how individuals balance the competing demands of multiple mutualisms. Here we examine three-way interactions among a widespread grass, Schedonorus phoenix, a protective fungal endophyte aboveground, Neotyphodium coenophialum, and nutritional symbionts (arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi) belowgroun...
متن کاملBiodiversity of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in agroecosystems
Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi [AMF] are soil fungi which form a mutualistic symbiosis with the roots of plants. A variety of benefits to the host have been ascribed to mycorrhizae, most often enhanced uptake of immobile nutrients from the soil, notably P. An understanding of the impacts of agronomic practices upon communities of these fungi would help to ensure an opportunity for the utilization...
